After the important issue of shopping and spending majority of our money was taken care of, Britt and I spent our remaining two days being typical Australian tourists in Manhattan. There is so much to see in New York City, I really recommend more than a weekend!
We did have a few more hiccups with our travelling plans. One morning we had a tour boat booked to take us around the Statue of Liberty, however being worn out from the previous day we didn’t wake up till 12pm! Half the day was already wasted, and by the time we got ready and headed down to the docks the boat had left! We really weren’t having much luck that weekend, however we still got to see the great green lady from the shore line.
It wasn’t all bad though! The tour bus really helped out with covering a lot of ground and sight-seeing without wearing out the soles of our shoes. Although it screams out ‘I’m a tourist’, sitting on top of a double decker bus was pretty exciting, and we managed to visit majority of our intended places.
The tour bus took us through Times Square and then headed downtown, which included going past Wall Street, Empire State building, Rockefeller Centre, Grand Central Station, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park and the Statue of Liberty. We hopped on and off at a few of these locations, my favourite being Rockefeller Centre! As Journalism student, it would be the dream job to work for NBC, hopefully this experience is my first stepping stone at achieving bigger things.
Can’t wait to see where my adventures in New York will take me next…
